Autumn is well and truly upon us, and we’re reaIly embracing autumn-winter knitting, busy making hats and gloves using the lovely new-season yarns!
As part of our support for the Campaign for Wool, we’ve been looking at the latest yarns that are not only made from British Wool, but are also spun in the UK. It is wonderful to hear how yarn production is growing in our country. Read the feature on page 58.
Our Knit for Refuge campaign is at the forefront of our minds and our needles this month as our charity blankets come together. The knitting group Juliet belongs to held a tea party and raised £70, as well as knitting teddies and enough squares to make up a blanket for our campaign! You can make a donation and download the Bears & Squares patterns by going to www.justgiving.com/knitforrefuge, and bring your bears and blankets to our stand at The Knitting & Stitching Show in October.
This issue’s knitting masterclass (page 20) from Judy Furlong is all about bust shaping using darts.
We also have an exclusive extract from the autobiography of designer and colour guru Kaffe Fassett – read it on page 76.
Next month is our 50th issue of The Knitter magazine, and we’ll have a bumper issue of fantastic patterns for you! Sadly, Juliet will also be handing over the reins as editor of The Knitter at that point. Juliet’s been with us right from the very very first issue of The Knitter and we’re really going to miss her insight, talent and charm. Fortunately she'll still be working with us as Editorial Consultant, which makes us very happy!
