We’re so happy at Simply Knitting that it’s almost Easter, heralding longer, hopefully brighter days and a whole new season to knit for! This is the perfect time to experiment with new knitting techniques, and gain inspiration from fibre festivals such as Wonderwool Wales (taking place in Builth Wells on 27-28 April)

To celebrate we have an issue packed with patterns for lighter knits that can be layered for warmth if needed (you never know with British weather), including the lacy Sirdar jumper on page 22, and the pretty Rowan cardigan on page 12 – both are ultra feminine! In the office quite a few of us have our eye on the sexy slouchy poncho on page 71.

To put a smile on your face, Alan Dart has designed a bright and quirky April Fool for you and we’ve also got six fun teatime-themed gifts for you to knit, from placemats to napkin rings. Look out for lots of cabling in our patterns this issue too, perfect for using your free cable needles to make.
